Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change ’s role is to protect the environment and human health through regulatory excellence, conservation, partnership, and promotion. About Our Opportunity
This position provides principal administrative support for the office. You will provide service, direction, guidance, and information on processes applicable to the Department, to the public and other government agencies. You will be required to process various forms and financial transactions. Several computer applications will be used to enter confidential information, generate documents, and complete financial processes. The office maintains both physical and electronic filing for the multitude of programs under the mandate of the Department.
Primary Accountabilities
Within a typical day, you will :
- Accurately respond to (internal and external) requests for information and assistance.
- Enter complaints and applications into a database a system.
- Create, track, file and retrieve information from electronic and physical files.
- Process financial transactions.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail according to departmental polices and procedures.
- Process Environmental Registry and FOIPOP requests within a specified time frame.
- Purchase and maintain office and inspection supplies.
- Ensure office equipment is maintained and provide troubleshooting measures following manufacturers' instructions (eg. photocopier / fax / printer).
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful within this role, you will have four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
This position will require you to be proficient in email management, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office software as well as having fast and accurate typing skills and excellent grammar. Previous financial experience, in the areas involving processing invoices for payment and cash reports is required. You will also possess a high degree of personal initiative, demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills. In addition, you must have the ability to determine priorities with minimal supervision and demonstrate the use of sound judgement and tact in dealing with a variety of situations that require confidentiality.

Pay Grade : CL 18
Salary Range : $1,684.00 - $1,884.17 Bi-Weekly
