A Day in the Life
We are looking for a visionary and hands-on digital and technology Director to lead the digital transformation and technology strategy for Canada and US Enterprise Accounts . This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to bridge the gap between technology and business, ensuring that all digital initiatives directly support and drive business outcomes and achieve strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for innovation, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration as well as to act as a trusted advisor.At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. The IT Director will lead digital and technology operations, strategy, and initiatives for Canada and US Enterprise Accounts. This individual will oversee the implementation of technology solutions, support infrastructure, and ensure compliance with global IT standards and policies. Additionally, the digital and tech Director will build strategic relationships with Global IT partners to ensure effective and agile execution of Business Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the regional digital and tech strategy in alignment with global objectives and local business needs.
- Act as a strategic business partner to regional leadership and functional heads (Finance, HR, Supply Chain and Order Operations, Legal, Quality & Regulatory, etc.).
- Oversee the deployment and localization of global platforms (ERP, CRM, BI, Cloud, Cybersecurity) for Canada and US Enterprise Accounts in collaboration with Global IT.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, data privacy laws, and industry standards.
- Manage and optimize OPEX and CAPEX budgets, driving cost efficiency and value creation.
- Build and lead high-performing, geographically distributed IT teams with a focus on agility and innovation.
- Oversee IT governance, cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and business continuity planning in collaboration with Global IT groups.
- Drive pre & post-merger integrations, carve-outs, and digital transformation programs, ensuring regional specifics are covered in the global merger strategy.
- Foster strong vendor partnerships and negotiate service-level agreements (SLAs) in cooperation with Global IT.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and data-driven decision-making, ensuring stakeholders trust your judgment, decisions, and recommendations.
Qualifications
Must Have – Required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 8 years in regional or global leadership roles.
- Proven track record in multinational environments, preferably in healthcare, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
- Expertise in SAP ECC, SAP (S/4HANA), Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Power BI, ServiceNow, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, SIEM), ITSM platforms, and automation technologies (Automation Anywhere, UiPath).
- Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks, tax systems, and compliance requirements.
Nice to have
- Master’s or MBA preferred.
- Knowledge of Variable commissions process to support Commercial Strategy
- Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills.
- Fluency in English and French.
- Ability to travel across the different operations in Canada and the US, we have presence in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.
