Downtown AutoGroup, is seeking a committed Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic team at our brand new, state-of-the-art Autoplex facility in Downtown Toronto! Here's what you'll be doing

  1. Accounts Receivable (AR):
    1. Process customer payments accurately and promptly.
    2. Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collection.
    3. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
    4. Generate and distribute invoices and account statements.
    5. Maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes.
  2. Accounts Payable (AP):
    1. Review, verify, and process vendor invoices.
    2. Ensure timely payment of vendor bills while adhering to dealership policies.
    3. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
    4. Manage the approval process for payment requests.
    5. Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  3. General Financial Support:
    1. Assist with monthly and year-end financial closings.
    2. Support internal and external audits with necessary documentation.
    3. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure best practices in financial operations.
    4. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial filing systems.

You need these qualifications

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with standard accounting practices, the automotive industry.
    • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in work.
    • Analytical Thinking: Capable of identifying trends, discrepancies, and providing solutions.
    • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
  • Team Player: Positive attitude, willingness to collaborate, and assist colleagues when necessary.

  • Prior experience in an automotive dealership or related industry.
