Assistant Controller

Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Finance & Operations team.

This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to oversee the day-to-day accounting activities at Giatec.

Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate is a collaborative, analytical, and nimble finance professional that thrives working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

They have a strong technical background in full-cycle and multi-entity accounting that is backed by a strong understanding of the nuances of finance and accounting.

This person is a self-starter who possesses excellent communication skills, is extremely organized, detail-oriented, and has a positive attitude.

This is a hands-on role that will require agility and determination to effectively manage the challenges that come with working in a high-growth organization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO :

• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations including invoicing, A / R, A / P, general ledger, inventory, etc.
• Perform monthly financial close and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc financial reporting, including financial reports for lenders, funding sources.
• Manage payroll process in collaboration with Human Resources, including calculation of commissions.
• Provide support in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and adequate internal controls are in place.
• Enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE ROLE :

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA) - required.
• Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in Accounting function.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards (ASPE and / or IFRS).
• Solid technical accounting skills and experience with various accounting software- NetSuite is a plus.
• Ability to quickly understand systems and data to make data-informed decisions.
• Strong people management skills with the ability to coach and mentor more junior staff.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to work in high paced environment where priorities change quickly.
• Detail oriented and possess excellent critical thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
