We are hiring a Data Architect to join our team in BC.

CANDIDATES SHOULD BE BASED IN BC - HYBRID ROLE - Victoria or Vancouver

Location : British Columbia

Salary : $100,000 - $150,000 annually

Role :

As an experienced consultant, you will design and oversee data structures, data models, related policies and rules. You will also provide expert data analysis, data design, data modelling and data quality services.

Additionally, you will develop data architectures, data standards and data policies to ensure integrity.

In this role, yourresponsibilities will be to :

• Plan, design, the development and implementation of data, software, concepts, specifications, and business requirements impacting multiple databases.
• Research, develop, and maintain data models and data architectures
• Lead and deliver logical data modelling and business modelling strategies, standards, policies, tools, and procedures.
• Working on complex data migrations with many data sources
• Create and maintain data models, databases, and data integration systems to ensure data is structured, accessible, and secure.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements, define data standards and governance policies, and develop strategies for data storage, retrieval, and integration.
• Have responsibility for data security, privacy, and compliance.
• Providing guidance and strategic advice on data focused initiatives
• Develop proof of concept solutions that demonstrate the art of the possible
• Analysis of most cost-effective Data / BI tools fit for purpose

Skills required :

• Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Data Architect (DA) with emphasis on data warehouse and reporting projects.
• Experience with data warehouse principles, Kimball methodology and modern data warehousing using cloud technologies.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling and data structure
• Demonstrated knowledge of data migration, data quality & cleansing, and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) concepts, principles, and tuning strategies
• Solid experience using Microsoft Data Warehouse and BI technologies (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI).
• Solid experience using Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse and BI technologies (Data Factory, Data Bricks, Azure SQL DW, Azure SQL DB, AAS, Power BI).
• Proficiency in other relational database systems (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Experience in working with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
• working with big data technologies such as Azure Data Lake Gen2 or Hadoop or Apache Spark or Snowflake
• Skills at facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups, including senior management.
• Experience gathering and analyzing functional and technical requirements and information from key business areas
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Highly collaborative with excellent communication, facilitation, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills

Other skills that would support this role :

Tools- Jenkins (or similar for CI / CD pipelines GitHub (Actions), NoSQL (serverless) databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB), Encryption tools (SSL / TSL, KMS, AKV, IaM), Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) these are public sector standards, Terraform.

Monitoring and Logging :

CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, API Management, AI / Machine Learning, Scaling techniques, Disaster Recovery, Documentation (reports, design, wireframes etc.).
