Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports s for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs.

This ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

The ministry also provides oversight for the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.

The Delivery Services Division is working to help better connect Albertans to programs and services and to ensure Albertans have access to the right services at the right time.

The Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program and the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program work with individuals, children, and families within the differing program’s Legislation, Regulations and policies.

FSCD / PDD caseworkers assess the support needs of individuals, children and families to provide individualized supports and services within the scope of each program.

Salary : $2,628.47 to $3,397.79 bi-weekly ($68,603 - $88,682 / year)

In the Disability Services Worker role, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with children, families, individuals and guardians in identifying, and assessing support needs that are within the FSCD / PDD program mandate in order to assist in supporting children and adults with disabilities.

Activities include assessment, referrals, service planning, commitment to supports and services, and ongoing monitoring and support.

The Disability Services Caseworker will be required to implement the FSCD and / or PDD program as outlined in Policy and Regulation :

Working within tight timelines, you will utilize your communication and interpersonal skills to build internal and external partnerships and manage conflict as it arises.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Master of Social Work with some related experience.

Equivalencies considered :

Related Education : Related degrees in Social Sciences (including but not limited to psychology, community development, rehabilitation, or disability studies) with a minimum of two years of related experience;

or related two-year diploma and 3 years related experience.

Please note : Successful applicants who possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work from an accredited program (ACSW);

or Diploma in Social Work from an Alberta College, will be required to register and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers.

Related employment experience : case management, planning and / or arranging services and supports for individual’s with disabilities, and / or children, and / or other vulnerable individuals.

Current and / or recent employment experience with service plans, community-based resources, and managing a caseload is preferred.

A valid Class 5 operator's license and access to a reliable vehicle is essential, as travel is a requirement of the role.

Assets :

Experience working with persons with disabilities to promote their independence and community inclusion.

Knowledge of a broad range of topics related to the disability field, relevant resources and case management practices.

Experience working collaboratively with families, community partners and other government programs.

Experience with interpreting and applying government legislation, regulations and policy / procedures in practice.

Ability to clearly communicate rationale for decisions.

Awareness of local community resources and experience providing referral information.
