The Student's Society of McGill University (SSMU) is currently hiring. With over 20,000 members, SSMU's role has been to represent students and to offer services since 1908.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN UNPAID POSITION*
The Board of Directors ( BoD ) is the highest governing body of the Society and is responsible for overseeing decisions related to operations, finances, Human Resource (HR), and corporate status.
The inclusion of a non-voting alumni to the Board of Directors helps to provide institutional knowledge to the current Board, along with a greater sense of long-term stability and accountability.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Attending Board of Directors meetings as an advisory member, in a non-voting capacity
- Sitting on one or more Committee(s) of the Board of Directors
Persons fulfilling BOTH requirements below shall be eligible for the role of Alumni Representative :
- Prior SSMU Member (ie, candidate must have paidSSMU fees during their studies at McGill);
- Persons who do not currently have any other position within SSMU, paid or unpaid.
The following will be taken in consideration during the Nominating process :
- Strong knowledge of the current SSMU environment and governance structures;
- Experience in financial, operational, and legal matters.
