Our client, a leading global engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Civil Engineer - Airports to join their team.
Location : Alberta or Ontario
Duties :
- Create and manage the preparation of design specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents for airfield projects.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews, and stamp and seal engineering documents.
- Offer engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications;
prepare records and progress reports outlining construction progress.
Act as the civil design lead and / or project manager in the design, project management, and contract administration for airfield infrastructure projects for private, regional, and international airports.
Specific tasks include geometric and structural design of new runways, taxiways, aprons, airside service roads, airside commercial developments, including site servicing, grading, earthworks, and stormwater management.
Coordination with other disciplines as required.
- Perform field inspections of construction as required. Although the position is primarily office-based, travel within Canada for varying durations is regularly expected during the summer months.
- Support and supervise the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, life cycle cost analysis, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, technical reports, design briefs, etc.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- P.Eng or eligible for licensing with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
- Practical knowledge of computer programs and web applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Schedule), AutoCAD, Civil3D, AviPlan, aircraft modeling software, FAARFIELD, PAVER.
- Proven ability to solve problems, including analyzing issues and possible solutions, planning corrective actions, including cost estimates and review of alternatives, and demonstrating creativity when new design is needed.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain excellent relationships with team members and clients.
- Ability to travel to project sites (sometimes remote) for design and resident construction services.
- Knowledge and experience with FAA, ICAO, and Transport Canada standards.
