Salary :
Classification 11, $ 26,043.48 - $ 26,848.95 annually, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Vacation is pro-rated and front-loaded (approximately 59.
5 hours / year). Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves.
Extended health and dental coverage will be applicable after the completion of six months and the probationary period is 910 hours.
Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1) of each year is paid time off.
Description :
Northern Lights College is currently seeking an individual who enjoys engaging with the students and planning events to fill the position of the Student Experience Officer on our Dawson Creek campus.
The primary responsibility of this role is to work within a team, to develop and implement a student engagement plan, with the goal to create an atmosphere of student life on campus.
The Student Experience Officer will execute a variety of events to support students' start of semester experience and to enhance students overall experience while at NLC.
The successful candidate will coordinate student orientations and other student events as required. The SEO will work within a budget, facilitate sending event invitations, coordinate speakers and performers for events, be comfortable speaking in front of a crowd and coordinate with other departments and volunteers to create successful events.
The operational base for this position is located in Dawson Creek, however there may be regional responsibilities attached to this role.
The Student Experience Officer is also very involved in the local campus Student council and will organize the elections for the Student Council, provide budget guidance to campus-based Student Council Treasurer and when needed will offer the services of secretary to the local campus student council.
The expected schedule for this position is 3.5 hours per day, with four of the workdays being scheduled during the daytime and one day scheduled either late afternoon or early evening hours to accommodate student activities.
Qualifications :
A certificate or diploma in event planning with two (2) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful applicant should have superior interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills; have the ability to make presentations to groups, multi-task, be able to build working relationships with other staff and departments and be able to prioritize while meeting tight deadlines.
A high level of energy and organization is essential for this position. Must be able to demonstrate ability in the use of Microsoft Office (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Publisher).
Must have, or be willing to take, Food Safe and Serving It Right. Must be a self-starter and able to work with little supervision.
Due to the possibility of travel within the region, applicants must hold a valid class 5 driver's license.
