SFU Finance is comprised of a number of units that deliver a variety of financial services to the university : Banking, Budget, Financial Reporting, Payment Services, Payroll, Planning & Analysis, Procurement, Research Accounting and Treasury.

About the Role
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst is a highly skilled finance professional that leads in the design and development of sound budgetary processes across the university.
The position is responsible for monitoring financial activities, leading multi-functional teams in the development of complex analytical assignments, identifying emerging trends and issues, and managing large and highly complex multi-year financial models to develop projections and outcomes in order to support accurate forecasts and budgets.
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst establishes effective business relationships with key clients, stays current on financial issues and business changes in the portfolios, and partners with portfolio leaders to develop recommendations and resolve issues.
The position also conducts financial due diligence on funding requests to provide decision support to the Executive team and other senior administrators.
The position participates in the leadership of a high functioning team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) and seven years of related experience in budgeting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain credibility when providing professional financial advice to senior leaders, faculty and staff.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to design complex financial models.
- Excellent problem resolution skills.
