Manufacturing Engineer (Machining)
Job Description
Specific Responsibilities :
- Internal machining expert focused on reduced machining times and improved machine utilizations
- Capable of performing time study analysis, implement quick change over tooling, etc
- Facilitate cutting tool and cycle time improvements
- Determine the proper fixture and tooling requirements for machining and possible assembly
- Develop fixtures, jigs, and other devices for machining
- Will aid Rapid Product Development group in optimization of new product machining, setting initial product and process standards, etc
- Coordinate designs and details with other departments to ensure interdepartmental functionality and technical specification compliance
- Will aid in capital justification and run-off of new equipment
- Work with key hourly and salary personnel to develop new products
- Periodically review existing manufacturing processes for productivity and cost-effectiveness
- Provide shop support and decisions necessary to solve complex problems and trouble-shoot
- Develop and maintain process documentation and standards
- Continually implement cost reductions on manufacturing floor
- Develop operator training programs and preventative maintenance requirements on all new equipment
- Maintain a sense of urgency for priority assignments
Specific Requirements
- Graduate of mechanical and / or manufacturing engineering program
- Must have CNC programming and set up experience, ability to support CNC & CMM programming requirements through Gibbs CAM and PCDMIS or related software is an asset
- Knowledge of SPC methods, process and machine capability requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and good computer skills
- Ability to solve / analyze complex manufacturing and assembly problems
- Must actively take the initiative in developing own skills
- Must have an active and sustained interest in and enthusiasm for the engineered world
