About the Role
The Coordinator, Indigenous Administration & Events provides confidential administrative, communications, data, insights and reports to support the Director, Indigenous Student Services and the director’s direct reports in the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC), and coordinates ISC ceremonies and events, event protocols and serves as the main ISC cultural events coordinator and protocol contact for SFU internal and external groups for ISC events.
The role prepares and reviews briefing notes and summaries for meetings and presentations; and triaging communications from internal and external community partners and stakeholders, including Indigenous students, Indigenous communities / organizations, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or other relevant discipline and four (4) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Excellent awareness of diverse Indigenous traditional and cultural knowledges and protocols; awareness and understanding of the intent of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action;
SFU’s Aboriginal Reconciliation Council recommendations, SFU Pathways Report, and other institutional documents relevant to Indigenous Student Services.
- Excellent knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, databases and other Student Services specific applications.
- Excellent knowledge of the entire Student Services organization, to include service delivery model, operational requirements and strategic change initiatives that are led by the director.
- Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities and changing priorities; and plan / organize own schedule and timelines to meet commitments.
