Role Purpose :

This position reports to the General Manager and Corporate Engineering Lead overseeing the design, fabrication, installation, documentation, maintenance, support and improvement of the facilities plant floor control systems .

It involves a major plant move and retrofit, expansion, new product and equipment launch and debug . This is an important role and requires expertise in Project Management, Leadership, Budget and Contractor Oversight.

Responsibilities :

  • Create, design and implement outstanding control systems solutions for industry, primarily in the Automotive industry.
  • Interface with internal customers and provide service and support on any controls projects that fall under our scope of responsibility.
  • Work on various stages of automation and control systems.
  • Initiate robotic programming architecture and system communication from written sequence to functional operation.
  • Use Fanuc robots and controllers. Program test and debug robots in application of dispensing materials.
  • Monitor project progress and develop strategies to meet deadlines.
  • Direct communications and documentation of project activities.
  • Travel to plant sites as required.
  • Analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of automation applications and interfaces in a mixed environment.
  • Follow best practices and standards in documentation and source code.
  • Handle change requests and provide quick and efficient programming solutions.
  • Proactively contribute ideas and solutions towards the improvement of business processes.
  • Interact with several departments to understand business requirements.
  • Provide timely functional releases to meet fast changing business requirements.
  • Provide production support for assigned application and automation systems.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering
  • Professional Engineering certification is highly desirable.
  • Should have at least seven to ten

7-10) years related experience in electrical engineering supporting automated equipment and control systems in a manufacturing related environment.

This could include integration, installation, equipment trouble shooting, and design.)

PLC Programming

IEC 61131 Languages), HMI Design, Commissioning.

  • Industrial Electrical System Troubleshooting / Testing / Debug.
  • Knowledge of networks and communications.
  • High level of proficiency with robotic systems hardware and software.
  • High level of creativity in complicated design projects.
  • Ability to use and interpret analytical techniques to verify or select alternate design approaches.
  • Experience with use and implementation of automation equipment hardware and software is required.
  • Training in sophisticated engineering methods including SERVO Controllers.
  • Training certificates with Fanuc robotic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, equipment documentation, and panel drawings is required.
  • Experience with PLC programming and / or Data Acquisition hardware is highly desirable.
  • Experience with robotic programming software is highly desirable

Experience with one or more of the following technologies : Java

Script, C# or VB using the .NET Framework in Visual Studio, SQL Server 200x, writing stored procedures and queries, building data models, and building databases is highly desirable.

  • Experience with ASP & ASP.NET knowledge.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel. Travel may be frequent and / or extended 25 to 40%.
  • Ability to operate effectively and autonomously, with only high-level direction.
  • Collaborative, positive, team-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and integrate work within teams of engineers and technicians to work on common projects. Assume project management roles to coordinate the involvement of other engineers, contractors, technicians and suppliers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interact with others such as supervisors or managers for advice and direction, to discuss work and provide updates.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to other engineers, technicians and operators.
  • Strong customer service orientation while managing expectations.
