Mechanical Designer
Job Description
Our client, a leading automotive company, is currently seeking an accomplished Mechanical Designer to join the team. Here is an overview of the role :
1) Utilize solidworks to carry out the design of automation and special purpose machinery, jigs and fixtures
2) Apply creativity in converting verbal concepts or rough sketches into 3D CAD designs
3) Work collaboratively with other designers and machine builders to problem solve
4) Ensure drawings are reviewed for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques finishes and hardness
5) Review, establish and maintain standards for engineering drawings and specification
6) Produce BOM for equipment and solicit quotes for components, materials and outside work
7) Design of prototype machine components for proof of concept
8) De-bug and standardize new and existing automation cells
9) Examine project instructions and drawings to determine test specs, procedures, objectives, test equipment and problems involved in design
10) Work with a team to quote new equipment projects for production
11) Prepare RFQ’s for outsource components and assemblies
12) Work with selected suppliers to ensure completeness and accuracy of their work
13) Maintain records and time for reporting technological development and timelines for SR&ED
14) Perform project management of mechanical builds to produce quality results on time and within budget
15) Coordinate the integration of wiring and controls from the initial concept and budget development phase through to system build, setup and debug
Critical Requirements
1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field
2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)
3) Recent experience in the automotive industry is strongly preferred
4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in mechanical engineering

Base Salary : Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience
