Human Resources Generalist

Some of what you will do in this role includes :
- Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
- Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
- Ensure legal compliance of regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and / or procedures as required
- Prepare paperwork, schedule, and facilitate smooth new hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance
- Provide effective and dedicated HR assistance to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
- Partner with the Health & Safety Manager
- Support handling of Claims WCB / LTD
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies
- Promote HR programs
- Assist in organizing quarterly and annual employee performance reviews
- Standardize letters of hire / termination and annual increases.
- Keep job descriptions updated for all functions within the company.
- Assists with the monitoring of the company wage and salary structure and the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and wage increases.
- Assists with the company-wide committees including the wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture and communications committees.
- Assist offsite payroll dept with completion and accuracy of payroll processing
- Liaise and volunteer with local organizations
You should have the following in your background to apply :
- Bachelor’s degree or HR Certification an asset; or 3-5 years relevant work experience in an HR capacity
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
- Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new systems as needed
- OHS knowledge
- Payroll experience
- Strong detail-oriented and resourceful mindset
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal labour laws
- Good presentation and training / development skills
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce an asset
