As a Soils Summer Student, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta offices as part of our Soils team for a 4 or 8-month term starting May 2026 . The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of soil, vegetation and wetlands projects with responsibilities as follows :
Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture
Assist with the execution of soils and vegetation surveys
Assist with field survey data collection
Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs.
What We Are Looking For
Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution
Strong oral and written communication skills
A valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions.
Experience with off-highway vehicles ARGO, UTV) and trailer towing would be considered an asset
Cares about their safety and the safety of others
Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices
Works easily in a team
Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks
Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
