Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Major Tower - Terminal Operations, the Unit Manager is accountable for the safety, service, budget, specialty personnel and stakeholder relations at the delegated specialties.

The Unit Manager is accountable and provides leadership to a team of Air Traffic Controllers and Team Supervisors. They act as change agents with the implementation of new technology, procedures or programs.

What you'll be doing :

  • Ensure the safety, service and quality of ACC services delegated within their scope of responsibility in collaboration with supervisors and Managers, ATS Quality Standards (MAQS).
  • Responsible for leading a team including hiring, coaching, mentoring and developing a high performing and highly engaged team.
  • Develops and implements corrective action plans to address deficiencies in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS) program and identifies trends to improve safety and service.
  • Ensures OI investigations are completed and collaborates with all stakeholders involved.
  • Ensures operation practices comply with the Fatigue Risk Management Program.
  • Responsible to plan, train and manage both the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Supports Air Traffic Services (ATS) Standards by ensuring staff meet all licensing, medical and proficiency requirements required for their positions.
  • Acts as local point of contact for NAV CANADA for identified operational issues.
  • Develops and manages budgetary plans and forecasts based on operational requirements and priorities.

What you bring :

  • Successful completion of secondary school.
  • 3 years of leadership experience managing a diverse team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management.
  • Ability to foster a climate conducive to an engaged workforce by promoting company values of respect, excellence, and service.
  • Demonstrated ability of strong time management and judgement to prioritize multiple tasks of varying urgency.
  • Ability to manage large, complex initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Working Conditions :

  • This position is based in Vancouver ACC and is classified as an onsite position. This position is not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional travel required.
