Senior Electrical Engineer

Description

Parsons is seeking a Senior Electrical engineer in their Markham office in Ontario to join the Rail and Transit group and to be part of a team working on projects of Railway systems, Transit facilities, Municipal and / or various electrical upgrades etc.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Experience in Transit facilities lighting, power, communication, and fire alarm systems is a must.
• Work with the lead engineer and provide instructions to the junior engineer or designer.
• Perform site surveys and data collections, write electrical system condition assessments, and propose upgrades.
• Generate design of power / communication / security / fire alarm / grounding systems and electrical details.
• Write and edit project construction specifications.
• Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists
• Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor and perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
• Knowledge of zero-emission and green building design

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

• P.Eng licensed in Ontario
• Over 10 years of related rail and transit work experience.
• Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices and
• Medium voltage experience

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES :

• Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
• Experience in utility coordination and other municipal agencies of Ontario is desired.
• Must be proficient in doing power system studies and GPR studies.
• A strong background in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired.
