The Opportunity
We are now actively looking for a Business Development Manager - Freight Solutions, to help us build-out our Freight Forwarding Division.
Leveraging our existing carrier network, the successful candidate will be charged with the buildout of our Freight Forwarding Division.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a "business within a business", and an entirely new role for the Company!
Key Responsibilities
As our Business Development Manager Freight Solutions, you will be heavily involved in business development and sourcing new freight sales.
Leveraging your past experience and industry contacts, you will be primarily responsible for the following :
- Building a network of prospective customer contacts and working on that network to identify, pursue, and win new freight sales business
- Developing, maintaining, and growing a freight sales pipeline
- Negotiating agreements on relevant trade lanes with direct and third-party carriers, and working to obtain the best rates and services possible
- Predicting future market trends and developing new ideas to enhance existing sales and marketing strategies
- Calling on companies in related marker sectors (Fertilizer, Forest Products, Bulk Grain) to solicit new and recurring freight business
- Collaborating with our Trading and Logistics teams to support in-house freight coordination and identify cost saving opportunities
- Monitoring and setting the example of Best in Class customer service levels
- Modelling an internal culture of professionalism, healthy competition, and collaboration
Requirements
- A minimum of 5yrs Logistics / Supply Chain experience, preferably in bulk transport (inland)
- Previous Freight Forwarding experience, along with a keen understanding of the North American trucking industry (Canada & US)
- Proven success in a Sales environment, with a demonstrated entrepreneurial background considered an asset
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline (equivalent work experience will be considered)

Total Compensation Package : $80,000 - $140,000 DOE
