Project Manager Scrum Master

Our client is a leading financial services company based in Vancouver that is embarking on a significant software modernization initiative.

They are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Scrum Master to join their Enterprise Delivery team to lead this transformative multi-year project.

Job Overview :

The Project Manager / Scrum Master will be responsible for leading and managing the software modernization initiative, ensuring its successful delivery in alignment with strategic business objectives.

This role requires a deep understanding of both traditional project management and Agile Scrum methodologies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive change within a complex organizational environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Project Leadership :

• Lead the software modernization initiative from inception through delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain effective project governance structures.

Scrum Master Responsibilities :

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.
• Mentor and coach team members on Agile principles and practices.
• Remove obstacles and ensure the team has the resources needed to meet their sprint goals.

Stakeholder Management :

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in for project objectives and deliverables.

Team Coordination :

• Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration and resource allocation.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence.
• Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that impede team progress.

Risk and Issue Management :

• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies as necessary.
• Ensure timely resolution of issues and effective communication of risks to stakeholders.

Project Delivery Improvement :

• Drive improvements in project delivery methodologies and processes.
• Implement best practices for project management and Agile Scrum, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the Enterprise Portfolio team.
• Measure and report on project performance, using data to inform continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications :

Experience : Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management and Scrum Master roles, with a proven track record of leading complex software development projects.

Experience in the financial services industry is highly desirable.

Skills :

• Strong knowledge of project management and Agile Scrum methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience and familiarity with Temenos Banking Solutions (or similar products) is a must have.
