Job Summary

AECOM is looking for an Economist to join its Environment division in Canada. This position can be based out of any of our offices in Canada.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Leading and participating in economic studies including cost-benefit analyses, financial and economic impact analyses, strategic plans, policy and regulatory analysis, feasibility studies, market studies and business cases in general;
  • Undertaking economic and financial modelling as required;
  • Undertaking research, surveys and interviews as part of project or client development work;
  • Drafting reports, presentations and other client deliverables;
  • Drafting proposals, including developing the methodology / approach for undertaking projects, as well as associated workplans, schedules and budgets;
  • Working with related disciplines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration or related field;
  • 5 years of professional experience as an economist;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English and French;
  • French is an asset for candidates in the Toronto area but a requirement for the Montreal area;
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (MS Excel);
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong command of other MS Office applications (Word, Powerpoint);
  • Interest in transportation and infrastructure economics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional consulting environment;
  • Experience in transportation and infrastructure economics, including traffic and revenue forecasting;
  • Experience undertaking micro-econometric studies with large data sets;
  • Experience in economic studies related to climate change
  • Familiarity with urban planning and related policy issues;
  • Familiarity with public finance issues related to municipalities and provinces in Canada
