Senior Developer - Data Engineering

As a Senior Developer - Data Engineering at Hyper Hippo, you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, built with Databricks and Snowflake.

Your work will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture. This includes building and maintaining a conformed data model, handling the addition of new data sources, optimizing ETL / ELT pipeline, and preparing data for analytics and reporting done by cross functional teams.

• Work with analysts, producers and game designers to develop data models to measure the performance of our games
• Develop proofs of concept for new techniques and tools to increase the efficiency and capability of our data processing
• Collaborate on building our CRM capabilities to enhance our ability to engage with players
• Implement privacy and security processes to strengthen our players’ trust in us
• Explore and ingest data from external sources to expand our ability to discover insights about the business
• Bring your ideas for improving our games, processes and collaboration so we can all grow together
• Utilize data engineering best practices to engineer a modern unified ETL / ELT data pipeline to collect, organize, process, and prepare data from multiple sources
• Build data architecture for ingestion, processing, and surfacing of data for large-scale applications
• Manage the addition of new games into the data pipeline ensuring that new data conforms to the existing data model
• Build and maintain a unified analytical reporting layer to serve all levels and needs of the business from executive leadership to frontline analysts
• Interface with business users and engineering teams to bridge the gap in terms of data needs and business term / logic understanding
• Propose innovations where opportunities arise to meet the needs of stakeholders
• Leverage industry best practices in establishing repeatable BI practices, principles & processes
• Research and discover new methods to acquire data, and new applications for existing data
• Min. 5+ years relevant experience; fields of study in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or commensurate professional experience is required
• Demonstrated experience writing maintainable, performant code in Python, Scala or other major language, in addition to SQL
• Experience with batch and streaming big data tools (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow)
• Proven experience in data modeling with a solid understanding of database concepts
• Experience building and maintaining a cloud Data Warehouse or Data Lake (Snowflake, Databricks (Delta Lake), Redshift)
• Experience building business intelligence solutions (data warehouse, data mart, ETL, Reports)
• Experience with cloud data services (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Experience in implementing privacy and security policies a plus
• Solid experience in setting up data for use in Tableau is a plus
• Experience preparing data for Data Science and Machine Learning a plus
