Destination Canada is looking for a Vendor Performance and Environmental Management Specialist to join our team in Vancouver as we inspire travellers to explore Canada.
The purpose of the Vendor Performance and Environmental Management Specialist role is to optimize procurement processes and advance our vendor management strategies.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Procurement and Environmental Programs, you will drive performance excellence, enhance vendor relationships, and ensure compliance.
This role is crucial in developing and promoting policies that align with our procurement goals, ensuring that our operations adhere to the highest standards of vendor performance.
Additionally, this role will support our environmental sustainability initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders and suppliers to enhance our environmental performance.

Note : The successful candidate will be working under Destination Canada’s Hybrid Working Model. This model requires all employees to work 2-3 days / week in the office.
DUTIES :
Vendor Performance Management :
- Develop and oversee vendor performance management framework including monitoring, evaluations, issue resolution and metrics.
- Develop, implement, and communicate policies and procedures related to vendor management.
- Provide expert advice and support to business units on vendor-related matters, including issue resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all vendor documentation.
- Manage vendor life cycles, including onboarding, performance evaluations, and contract renewals or terminations, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
Procurement Project Management :
- Lead and manage special projects within the procurement team from initiation to completion.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
Environmental Sustainability Leadership :
- Ensure that sustainability considerations are integrated into procurement policies and processes.
- Plan, execute, and oversee environmental projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to enhance environmental sustainability and reduce DC’s carbon footprint.
- Track, analyze, and report on environmental metrics and data related to DC’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Develop and promote policies, procedures, and practices that support environmental goals.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on environmental practices.
- Perform assessments and inspections to identify and rectify deficiencies in sustainability practices.
Essential Qualifications
EDUCATION :
- Post-secondary degree in business, procurement, environmental sciences, environmental sustainability, or a related field.
- Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE : When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria :
- At least five years of experience in vendor management and project management
- Practical experience with environmental initiatives and sustainability practices.
- A collaborative team player with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality of work.
KNOWLEDGE :
- Comprehensive understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and best practices for sustainability initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of vendor performance management, including monitoring, evaluation, issue resolution, and life cycle management.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, including planning, execution, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in tracking, analyzing, and reporting data related to environmental metrics and vendor performance.

- Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to address environmental and vendor management challenges.
