We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Project Associate to join our growing Restoration team.Edison specializes in the repair and restoration of existing buildings, providing communication-focused professional engineering and project management services.
As a Mechanical Restoration Project Associate, you will be responsible for site reviews and assessments, various restoration reports, construction oversight, and client & contractor communication.
You will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and site contractors to ensure our clients’ mechanical restoration projects are completed on time and within budget.
KEY RESULT AREAS FOR THIS ROLEConstruction Review : Understand project specifications, visit project sites to monitor progress of construction projects and ensure conformance to design specifications and drawings.
Identify deficiencies and report to PM. Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site. Contract Administration and Project Management : Preparation of Payment Certificates, monitoring budgets and tracking quantities.
Attend construction progress meetings, write minutes. Prepare Construction Summary Reports.Condition Assessments / Preliminary Reviews / Field Review Services : Review of various building systems including but not limited to Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Hydronic Heating and Cooling Systems, Snow Melting and in floor heating, Plumbing, Sanitary, Strom Water, Natural Gas Piping, Fire Protection and Sprinkler, Clean agent Fire Suppression Systems and Building Automation System (BAS).
Conduct testing, gather and analyzes information, help interpret findings. Design and Tender : Prepare draft bid documents and specification packages including scope of work and bid forms.
Prepare straightforward plans and designs for repairs, in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications.
Communications / Client Service : Help us develop and maintain long term relationships with Clients through consistent communication, asking questions, and seeking ways to improve our services.
Provide regular updates to Project Managers regarding status of projects. Process / Procedure / Templates / Knowledge Development : Take initiative to increase knowledge of building components and systems to help grow your career.
Understand the knowledge behind each specification section and drawings on a project by project basis. WHO YOU AREExperience· Minimum of 1 year experience in building science.
Experience with residential building systems (townhouse, midrise, highrise, etc.).Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the installation or repair of various building systems. Practical understanding of the construction processes and building system failure mechanisms.
Extensive understanding of building mechanical engineering requirements, knowledge of utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, applicable codes and standards such as Ontario Building Code ( OBC ) , CSA, ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, SMACNA and AREMA.
