Position overview
We have a full-time opportunity for an Operations Coordinator, Special Projects in the Airport Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Centre (Special Projects).
The Operations Coordinator (Special Projects) will focus on the operational planning and delivery for major event groups passing through Vancouver Airport including the Invictus Games 2025 and FIFA World Cup 2026.
Working in close collaboration with internal departments, agencies and stakeholders, this role seeks to provide operational excellence in tandem with a world class experience for core special event passenger groups including athletes, officials, VIPs, dignitaries, event staff and media amongst others.
Key responsibilities include :
- Supporting the development of detailed project plans relating to Invictus Games 25 and FIFA 26 including key deliverables, milestones, and status updates.
- Supporting project coordination to ensure alignment with key stakeholder objectives and requirements.
- Facilitating and participating in meetings throughout the project lifecycle to provide subject matter expertise, alternative solutions, and innovative ideas.
- Developing budgets / economic assessments and forecasts relating to the impacts of special events
- Assist with arranging post event legacy reporting to detail the economic, social and environmental impacts that YVR has contributed to through the special projects.
Key qualifications include :
- 2 years of relevant experience in an operational environment, preferably in aviation, supplemented by post-secondary education in Operations Management, Hospitality, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- Diplomatic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of conflict resolution skills.
- Proven relationship building and negotiation experience to influence win-win outcomes
- Ability to work with multiple internal and external parties to communicate relevant information, manage high pressure situations and resolve issues to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Knowledge about airport facility and processes is a plus.
This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $72,008 to $94,115 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
