Salary :
$46.44 - $55.11 / hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.
2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.
Description :
NLC's Health Care Assistant Program requires a temporary part-time instructor to deliver the following course :
HCAT 124 Lab Instructor : Healing 3 : Personal Care and Assistance
Date : June 19 - August 16, 2024 (12 hours per week)
Qualifications : Required :
Required :
- Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
- Current, full practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as an LPN or as an RN;
- Minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members, and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings.
- Nursing experience should include (a) working with older adults with complex health needs; and (b) experience or orientation in home support and multi-level complex care.);
- Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners : e.g., completion of (or satisfactory progress in) the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program;
- or previous teaching experience with satisfactory evaluations; or, where PIDP or teaching evaluations are absent, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process;
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;
- Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
- Ability to contribute as a team member.
Preferred :
- Completed course work in Indigenous cultural Safety and humility; and
- Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional.
