2425-266The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on steps that range from $68,917.73 - $91,624.25. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $82,737.

16 annually.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager, Student Services, you will : Help students make decisions, solve problems, and meet goals that maximize their college experience and ensure student success and wellbeing.

Engage and support students in various stages of their student development - including those who are prospective, transitioning-in, current, and transitioning-out students.

Participate in events, activities, and interactions that support student growth, wellbeing and engagement with the campus and community.

In collaboration with the Manager, Student Services, you will oversee procedures related to reports under the Student Community Standards policy submitted from faculty, staff, and students.

This will include reviewing reports for policy applications, meeting with those involved in the Student Community Standards (SCS) process to understand their experience and bringing reports to an outcome.

Accurate and timely documentation of the SCS process and report writing are part of the role.You will educate Sydney Waterfront Campus on the SCS policy and procedures.

For example, you will : Assist students with program selection and information on the application process.Help students learn and make informed decisions regarding college policies and procedures, including creating educational initiatives for policy breaches.

Assist students in planning how to meet financial commitments of college and navigating the bursary and scholarship opportunities.

Meet with students to respond to questions or to provide support to students facing challenges and make referrals to relevant community agencies when appropriate.

Refer students to internal accessibility and counselling, cultural and accessibility supports among others as required.Work with the Manager, Student Services and the Campus Care Team to assist in the creation of individualized care plans to ensure students are supported around behaviors of concern.

Collaborate with campus and community partners as required.You will be a member of campus and provincial Student Services and Advising teams, which provide a continuum of integrated services and opportunities to students.

You will initiate and build partnerships with Academic Chairs and faculty to cooperatively provide services tailored to the unique needs and opportunities of students and programs.

QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience : The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree.

A degree in social work, psychology, criminology, law or a related field, would be considered an asset. You have a minimum of three years (full-time equivalent) of recent and relevant occupational experience in student services or supporting adults in personal, academic, and / or career development.

Occupational experience that includes experience in investigations, case management, administrative law and processes, and mediation would be considered an asset.

You have knowledge of mental health resources and experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite including MS Teams and e-mail.

Experience with Peoplesoft would be an asset.You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology;

and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.You have experience in training / facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation, and experience with risk assessment and safety planning.

You have experience supporting / providing service to students and prospective students.Relevant Skills and Knowledge : You demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism.

You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to interact with a diversity of people and support resolution of issues.

Other InformationAs a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a part-time adult education program delivered by NSCC.

This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees.

To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period.

Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
