Salary Range : $103,067 to $137,660 per year

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

  • Bachelors Degree in Education;
  • Masters Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business, or related field;
  • 5 years of experience in Educational Leadership and Management;
  • Supervisory experience.

Assets :

  • Experience teaching adults;
  • Experiencing leading and managing change.

Successful candidate must provide a Criminal Record Check and University or College Transcripts to Human Resources prior to commencement.

Candidates must have a permanent work permit to work in Canada.

Position Description

Dean, Business, Academics, Trades, and Regional Stewardship

Nature and Scope of Work :

This position is accountable for leadership and vision, and has oversight for Academic Upgrading, Business, Trades and Resource Technology, Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT), and the Community Learning Centres.

There is a high level of coordination, organization, and leadership required to support programming, students, and staff in 18 campus locations, in addition to those teaching online.

A culture must be developed and maintained that supports the Mission and Values of the College, is consistent with Adult Education principles, and respects partnership with our communities, government agencies, other Colleges, and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the successful candidate will be a leader in the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The roles and responsibilities of the Dean, Business, Academics, and Regional Stewardship are many, and include :

  • Utilizing an entrepreneurial model to develop programming that will meet present and future market demands and is responsive to the needs of adult learners.
  • Ensuring the quality and rigor of all programs assigned.
  • Leading and managing the unit to support Northern Lakes College’s vision, mission, and strategic direction.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and managing budgets for programs and projects as assigned, including Academic Upgrading, Business, Regional Stewardship, Trades and Resource Technology, Continuing Education and Corporate Training (CECT), Community Adult Learning Programs, and Peace River Correctional Centre programming.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and promoting effective, professional relationships both internal and external to the College.
  • Working in collaboration with the External Relations department and other groups to develop plans to maximize program awareness and registrations.
  • Working with partner communities and groups to identify educational needs.
  • Monitoring and leading the Community Learning Centre model.
  • Leading ongoing strategic and fiscal planning for departments and projects as assigned.
  • Providing growth opportunities for team members to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Representing the College on provincial committees and groups as appropriate to program portfolio.
  • Serving on Committees including Senior Leadership Team, President’s Advisory Team, Academic Council, Dean’s Council, and others as assigned.
  • Ensuring continued development / improvement of programs by participating in the program review process.
  • Representing the needs of programs at the Senior Management Team level.
  • Actively seeking, identifying, proposing, and implementing new program opportunities, grant opportunities, and collaborations that are beneficial to the College and its students.
  • Regularly connecting with others to obtain feedback on department programming and operations from direct reports, peers, students and other key community stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the implementation of College Policies, Procedures, and Regulations, and initiate and steward the changes of these as necessary.
  • Working with the Ministry to ensure standards are met for program approval, revision, and operation.
  • Working with the Centre for Teaching and Learning on curriculum development initiatives as required.
  • Reviewing of student enrolments and allocation of instructional resources, as required, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting learners’ needs.
  • Working with representatives of the Community Education Committees and the Committee Council, as advisory groups to the College.

Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Academic.

Required :

  • Bachelors Degree in Education
  • Masters Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in Educational Leadership and Management
  • Supervisory experience
