Job Duties Job Duties General Accountability The position is responsible for co-designing and facilitating initiatives and interventions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
These activities include building capacity for leadership development, change management, and team effectiveness including conflict management.
The role works collaboratively with colleagues within human resources and across all levels of leadership within Saskatchewan Polytechnic to ensure alignment of the strategic and operational priorities.
Nature and Scope This position can be based at any of Saskatchewan Polytechnic locations, requiring travel provincially as required.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers a working remotely program of which this position may be eligible. The OE Consultant has no direct reports.
This role reports to the Director, HR Strategy Development and works with HR staff, Saskatchewan Polytechnic managers, program heads, supervisors, deans, employees, and union officials.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Leadership in Team Effectiveness
Provide focused support to a client portfolio that enables the team to effectively meet strategic and operational goals.
This can include but not limited to research, writing, planning, coaching, training, and facilitation.
- Lead assigned organizational projects such as employee engagement strategies, leadership development and employee assessment and development programs and change management support.
- Advise the Saskatchewan Polytechnic community on strategies consistent with the envisioned workplace such as developing a respectful, positive environment, through learning, development, and facilitation initiatives
- Lead the diagnosis of organizational systems by engaging managers and staff in workplace assessments or other needs assessment techniques, and in defining, facilitating and applying appropriate intervention strategies, including those designed to transform individual and group behaviour and attitudes to foster and manage personal change and achieve higher levels of effectiveness and engagement.
- Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of various intervention approaches and their results.
Training, Learning, and Development
- Manage small to enterprise-wide learning initiatives by coordinating internal and external training and / or design.
- Deliver and evaluate learning and development programs to address corporate or specific departmental needs.
- Increase capacity to manage workplace situations, particularly by supervisors, by providing appropriate skill development.
- Assist HR Consultants and stakeholders with developing individual employee personal learning plans.
- Act as an educator and coach regarding the skill development of managers and staff both proactively, in areas such as leadership development, and reactively, with intervention strategies appropriate to the workplace situation such as conflict resolution scenarios.
- Evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of various learning and development approaches and their impact on learning outcomes and knowledge exchange.
Relationship Management
Internal :
- Provide expertise and skill development to HR Consultants to assist in maintaining and promoting a healthy workplace environment.
- Provide advice and guidance to HR Consultants and stakeholders on systems and workplace issues such as engagement, team effectiveness, employee performance and career development.
- Build strong relationships within the HR team and stakeholders on all campuses to create a climate of engagement, mentorship, and trust.
- Build a network of contacts and information sources to keep up-to-date and well informed on OE issues such as matters relating to respectful workplaces and organizational development best practices.
Organizational Diagnosis
Reactive :
- Assist HR Consultants and stakeholders with conflict situations and determining appropriate resolution techniques, involving and informing all necessary stakeholders to bring resolution to conflict issues.
- Evaluate urgency and extent of each situation to ensure measures are taken to maintain a healthy and safe workplace.
- Use good judgment to maintain information in confidence, except when there is a risk to the safety of the members of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic community or the organization itself.
- Ensure situations are assessed in a timely manner to evaluate risk of each situation.
Proactive :
- Assist the HR team and stakeholders with organizational risk assessment or identification of consequences of not engaging or engaging inadequately in an OE strategy.
- Assist with the development and implementation of OE strategies.
Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) This position requires a post-secondary degree in human resources management, leadership, adult education or in a closely-related discipline.
Significant experience in organization development / effectiveness, change management, facilitation (in-person and virtual), coaching, and training and development, including the use of web-based learning management tools.
A CPHR, CTDP or ICF designation is an asset. Desired QSA Required Competencies Leads Transformation
