The General manager reports to the Nickel Plate Cross Country Ski Club board of directors. The role is a year-round position with reduced hours in the off season, totaling 1480 hours per year.
The Role :
The position is responsible for the delivery of all operations at Nickel Plate Nordic Center including but not limited too :
Hiring and managing a paid staff consisting of groomer operators, ski instructors, and office / retail staff, including directing and managing the activities of the club’s volunteers.
This includes performance management of staff and volunteers.
- Developing and maintaining a quality trail grooming program.
- Managing and preparing the operational budget of the Centre in conjunction with the Board of directors.
- Managing the Health and Safety program for the center and ensuring compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Summer trail maintenance program.
- Management of ticket office / rental shop.
- Communications with membership, website content and maintenance.
- Facility maintenance.
- Marketing and advertising.
- Program deployment including Skill Development programs, Ski S’Kool, adult and master’s programs.
- Implementing Safe Sport policies with staff and volunteers.
- Represent Nickel Plate to club members, the public, various governments including First Nations, and other industry groups.
- Ensuring all operations meet legal requirements and are conducted in an ethical manner.
- Ensuring all Nickel Plate users have an absolutely wonderful on snow experience!
Applicant Requirements :
- Demonstrated strong abilities in communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and priority setting skills, budgeting and cost control skills.
- Demonstrated experience in showing initiative and the ability to follow through on commitments.
- Experience in managing teams.
- An understanding of nordic ski operations and hands-on involvement in the nordic ski environment either as an employee or volunteer.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a range of different groups including reports, volunteers, government, and customers.
- CANSI or NCCP certification.
Job Type : Full-time
Pay : $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours : 20 40 per week
