Course description :
A course whose content can vary, and which is renewed periodically, dealing with a specific theological matter.
More than a work of art, the icon is a visual theology insofar as it expresses the Church teaching through images. Over the centuries, a specific language has developed, translating the realities of the divine world into the images and forms of this material world.
While recalling the principles that govern this theological art, this course will show how these principles have manifested and expressed themselves through time and place.
Required experience and qualifications :
- Doctorate in theology (or equivalent), with specialization in Eastern Christian Studies.
- In-depth knowledge of the world of icons (history, art, meaning, theology).
- Knowledge of patristics is an asset.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and student diversity.
- Facility with online learning tools
