The University External Relations Office is currently accepting applications for a Digital Engagement Specialist. This is a full-time, continuing position reporting to the Director of Alumni and Community Relations.
This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of website, digital communication and social media content that drives meaningful engagement with alumni and donors.
Comfortable in the digital space, this position plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of web-based projects, communications and social media activities for the Office of External Relations.
This includes supporting the development and execution of campaigns and initiatives in the digital space and monitoring and reporting on analytics to inform strategy and identify opportunities.
The position requires advanced communication and a high degree of collaboration with multiple internal teams and decision-makers to advance an integrated and cross-functional work plan consistent with the overall University brand strategy and External Relations priorities.
The Digital Engagement Specialist manages Alumni Relations social channels, playing a central role in how ULethbridge Alumni Relations looks, sounds, and engages with its audiences.
The position provides support to other units interested in engaging alumni by identifying the appropriate channels, developing content and ensuring alignment with the broader alumni engagement strategy.
To be successful, the Digital Engagement Specialist needs to stay on top of emerging trends and best practices related to web design, user experience, social media, digital marketing, and digital communications.
The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification review for Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) positions.
As such, the classification level currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project. Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, digital communications, online journalism, and / or public relations.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, including social media posts and website content.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of online communities and social media platforms, preferably in higher education.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven interpersonal skills and responsive client service, including building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and digital communications colleagues.
- A commitment to collaboration and teamwork, and a consultative approach.
- Experience with website management or CMS systems (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, etc.).
- Proven experience in creating and editing content for the web and social media.
- Experience with creative design software, ideally the CS Suite, would be an asset.
- Familiarity with social media management platforms would be an asset.
- Experience with audience groups including alumni, donors, community partners, faculty and staff would be ideal.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,772.00 - $5,403.00 monthly Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,772.00 - $6,034.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 11)
