What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the AVP, Financial Reporting, this role is a key member of the Claims Modernization project and is responsible for delivering system solution as designed by the project team.
This role will lead the Finance systems delivery for Oracle General Ledger. You will provide critical leadership to the finance systems team working on the project, ensure finance requirements are clearly communicated to the project team, and partner with stakeholders to enable successful delivery of the program requirements.
You will achieve this by understanding the functional requirements for the project including relevant financial calculations and mapping rules, translation of those requirements into functional logic and the flow of data from new Claims system (Guidewire Claims) to downstream systems.
You will deliver this by working closely with the cross functional teams including Finance, Enterprise Project Management office (EPMO), Technology Solutions (TS), Quality Assurance (QE), Data Governance (EDO), and other Business Leads within the claims modernization project.
Your knowledge of claims within personal and commercial insurance industry, experience in delivering Oracle ERP projects and data systems will serve you well.
Key requirements for the role include :
Project Delivery
- Lead the team of finance systems professionals responsible for both the project as well as business as usual support activities
- Understand finance business requirements to map claims transactions to general ledger including financial logic, mapping tables and data quality checks
- Lead the development of updated finance business processes, and functional and non-functional business requirements during project inception and ensure they are well articulated to the technology stakeholders
- Prioritize, manage, and make decisions on finance requirements ensuring they are clearly defined, and acceptance criteria is understood by the team.
- Act as a liaison between the technology and business stakeholders in a hybrid software delivery framework. Understand functional logic required for the data flow from upstream systems into the impacted applications
- Understand project timelines and requirements and lead the delivery of system solution
- Review process mapping to ensure future state solution lines up with current state and stakeholder requirements
- Actively participate in the project meetings and manage communication between project and business
- Resolve issues and conflicts and escalate program gaps to leadership
- Review and approve major business decisions, by involving key stakeholders and gaining alignment
- Understand Data Testing requirements and lead testing cycles with support from Quality Assurance (QE) teams
- Manage external vendor relationships as needed
- Identify process improvement opportunities by correlating business processes across workstreams, and conduct analysis for areas of optimization
Communication and Change Management
- Support the development of content for communication, training and standard operating procedures
- Product advocacy by becoming a bridge between finance and support teams
Requirements :
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience executing finance projects in large, complex environment with Finance and / or Claims service
- 3-5 years experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry and knowledge of claims will be a definite asset
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP is a must
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative / self management, accountability, and flexibility / adaptability.
- Strong communication to effectively communicate and lead workshops across functional teams to both business and technology teams
- Experience with mainframe system, databases and understanding functional logic / calculations within the systems

- Designation or University Degree in business or finance
- PMP designation would be an asset
Salary Range : $97,000 - $178,800

In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
