Research scientist

KisoJi Biotechnology is a therapeutic antibody company that is currently expanding its molecular biology and antibody discovery team.

We are hiring a Senior Research Associate (Msc) / Research Scientist (PhD). This is an individual contributor position that requires on-site laboratory bench work.

The successful candidate will have the ability to complete project milestones within strict deadlines, to provide technical expertise within their areas of strength, to work independently, and to collaborate effectively within our multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for people who are internally motivated, scientifically rigorous, and who hold high standards of laboratory maintenance.

Candidates must be able to work legally in Canada.

Position : Senior Research Associate / Research Scientist

Site : Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Department : Molecular Biology

Responsibilities

To work independently and in collaboration with other team members, under the direction of the department head to

o Design, create and clone antibody / recombinant protein DNA constructs

o Generate phage display antibody libraries

o Plan and execute phage display panning experiments for antibody discovery

o Generate amplicon libraries for NGS analysis

o Provide technical and scientific expertise in discussions and presentations

o Support the creation of SOPs and experiment reports as required

Interface with and support other scientists as required, and participate in team meetings to assist in the coordination of project and departmental activities

Essential qualifications

• For senior research associate position, M.Sc. in immunology, genetics, cell biology, or molecular biology, with at least 5 years of experience in an industry environment
• For research scientist position, Ph.D. in immunology, genetics, cell biology, or molecular biology
• Experience with the design and execution of molecular biology techniques such as cloning (restriction enzyme / TOPO / Gibson / Golden Gate Assembly), PCR and RT-PCR, DNA (mini / midi / maxiprep) and RNA extraction, Sanger sequencing analysis
• Independent technical troubleshooting skills, excellent task management and execution, teamwork and communication skills are a must
• Ability to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-faced environment while planning and meeting timelines
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills; proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Assets

• Experience with antibody discovery methods such as phage display and biopanning are a plus
• Experience in protein and cell-based assays including ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, and cell-binding assay by FACS is a plus
• Experience in cell culture and protein expression are a plus
