Description de poste

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer for an enterprise contract-to-permanent opportunity. In this role, you will take on a premier platform automation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and cloud reliability engineering capacity, specializing in designing, building, and operating production-grade automation frameworks across multi-tier cloud platforms.

As a Cloud Engineer, you will bridge the gap between platform engineering, solution architecture, service operations, and quality engineering. Operating in a 100% remote setting, you will drive strategic initiatives to modernize how infrastructure is provisioned, deployed, and sustained. You will consolidate CI/CD pipelines into shared reusable templates, orchestrate infrastructure using Terraform and Helm, implement GitOps-based continuous delivery, and automate disaster recovery procedures. This position demands a technical platform authority with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes/AKS, and infrastructure automation who can eliminate manual workflows, optimize operational costs, and leverage modern AI tooling to accelerate delivery.

Location: Remote

Assignment Type: 100% Remote

Contract Duration: 6-month contract to start (with intention to convert to Full-Time Permanent)

Advantages
100% Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom and work-life balance of a fully remote position.

Contract-to-Perm Potential: Start with a 6-month contract structured with direct intention to convert to a full-time permanent role.

Modern Cloud-Native Tech Stack: Gain deep, production-grade exposure to Azure, AKS, Terraform, Helm, GitOps, and Kafka.

Next-Gen Automation & AI Enablement: Pioneer AI-assisted engineering and automated guardrails within a forward-thinking platform environment.

Responsibilities
Own build and release engineering by auditing existing repositories and consolidating Azure DevOps pipeline YAML into shared, reusable templates with change detection and automated quality gates.

Implement GitOps-based continuous delivery to achieve declarative, Git-driven deployments featuring automated reconciliation, drift detection, and automated rollbacks.

Design, build, and maintain automated on-demand provisioning and teardown for line-of-business environments across all supporting cloud services and applications.

Automate business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) processes, including backup validation, automated failover, recurring DR drills, and measured RTO and RPO metrics.

Maintain, refactor, and version Terraform configurations and modules, enforcing strict state boundaries and provider version management.

Author and refactor Helm charts to deploy in-cluster platform services, hardening workloads for high availability, auto-scaling, and resource optimization.

Build and maintain custom build agent images to standardize and streamline tooling across CI/CD delivery pipelines.

Implement automated platform guardrails, embedding policy-as-code, security scanning, IaC static analysis, and observability dashboards into pipelines.

Integrate AI-assisted engineering tools into platform operations, packaging operational knowledge into reusable skills and automated runbooks.

Eliminate repetitive manual efforts across engineering teams by automating patching, certificate and secret rotation, environment scaling, and routine reporting.

Troubleshoot complex staging and production issues, performing root-cause analysis and maintaining comprehensive operational documentation.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Cloud Engineering Requirements
Platform & DevOps Tenure: Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering, including at least 1–2+ years focused on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD automation in production Azure environments.

Infrastructure as Code & Containers: Deep expertise in Terraform (module design, state management, refactoring) and Helm chart authoring, alongside production experience with Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

CI/CD & GitOps Delivery: Proven experience building Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and implementing GitOps continuous delivery frameworks (Argo CD or Flux).

Azure Cloud Ecosystem: Demonstrated engineering experience across Microsoft Azure services, including AKS, Key Vault, Storage, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, virtual networking, and IAM.

Automation & Scripting: Strong programming proficiency in Python and Bash to build maintainable tooling, automation scripts, and custom integrations.

Disaster Recovery Automation: Hands-on experience engineering automated backup, restore, and failover workflows with measurable RTO and RPO targets.

Education: Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical work experience).

Preferred Assets & Certifications
Event Streaming: Operational experience with Apache Kafka (topic/partition design, consumer group sizing, performance tuning, or platform migrations).

Observability as Code: Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing using Azure Monitor, Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.

AI Tooling & FinOps: Experience utilizing agentic coding tools to safely accelerate delivery, alongside knowledge of Azure Cost Management and FinOps practices.

Industry Certifications: Credentials such as HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, Microsoft Certified (AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-305), or Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD) are considered an asset.

Regulated Industries: Prior experience operating within regulated enterprise environments (e.g., healthcare, PHI) is an asset.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Analytical Problem Solving: Superior diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot complex deployment pipelines, containerized workloads, and cloud infrastructure issues.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of authoring clear runbooks and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
