Description de poste
Are you an ambitious, results-driven field sales professional looking to step into an extraordinary growth opportunity within the logistics sector? Randstad Professional is proud to partner with a global leader in international freight forwarding and contract logistics to recruit a dynamic Logistics Business Development Consultant in Calgary, Alberta. As a key growth driver in our client’s expanding Canadian footprint, you will lead sales & marketing efforts, territory development, and strategic account acquisition across Western Canada. This remote, field-based role offers an incredible blend of entrepreneurial autonomy and the backing of a premier global supply chain network.

In this strategic sales & marketing role, you will be responsible for building a strong commercial presence in Calgary and surrounding regional markets. Our client is establishing new territory reach in Alberta, creating a high-impact environment for a self-motivated sales professional who excels in a 100% remote, autonomous setup. You will focus on selling total supply chain solutions, including international ocean and air freight forwarding, contract logistics, warehousing, and customized freight movement. Working closely with central operations, pricing specialists, and executive management in Brampton, Vancouver, and Montreal, you will act as the principal commercial leader for local and regional clients.

This position provides a balanced commercial focus combining active account development and net-new client acquisition. Upon joining, you will inherit an existing portfolio of client accounts to manage, retain, and expand—representing approximately 50% of your initial focus—while dedicating the remaining 50% of your scope to prospecting and securing net-new business. Target client sectors in the Calgary market include retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), agricultural machinery, technology, consumer electronics, healthcare, and industrial spare parts for energy support. Whether connecting virtually or conducting on-site field visits across Alberta, your ability to craft tailored 3PL solutions will drive business expansion.

Sought after skills

• Proven track record in B2B consultative field sales, business development, contract negotiation, and customer relationship management.
• In-depth understanding of international freight forwarding, ocean and air modes, contract logistics, and 3PL warehousing operations.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze client supply chains, identify operational efficiencies, and negotiate profitable agreements.
• Exceptional self-discipline, time management, and intrinsic motivation required to succeed in a 100% remote, field-based environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the confidence to communicate effectively with business executives and internal partners.
• Strategic growth mindset with demonstrated balance between new business hunting and strategic account management.
• Proficiency using modern sales software, CRM platforms, virtual meeting tools, and commercial reporting applications.
• Resourceful problem-solving ability to develop customized, mid-market supply chain solutions alongside global network partners.
• Familiarity with Western Canadian industry verticals including retail, FMCG, agricultural equipment, technology, and energy supply chains.
• Collaborative team player capable of working seamlessly across provincial boundaries with centralized pricing and operations teams.

Advantages
• Competitive annual base salary between $65,000 and $75,000, dependent on sales experience and industry knowledge.
• Uncapped sales incentive plan (SIP) offering lucrative quarterly performance commission payouts.
• Generous paid time off allocation totaling 18 days per year (10 vacation days plus 8 personal/sick days).
• Comprehensive corporate health, dental, vision, and employee wellness benefits plan.
• 100% remote work structure with total schedule flexibility to manage field activities across the region.
• Defined corporate pension plan featuring full company contribution matching up to 5% of base salary.
• Day-one warm account assignment, providing immediate revenue touchpoints alongside new prospecting opportunities.
• Excellent career advancement path with a premier international brand expanding its footprint in Western Canada.
• Strong global network support providing qualified international sales leads and structured onboarding.
• Opportunity to pioneer a growing territory and lay the foundation for future local branch infrastructure.

Responsibilities
• Proactively identify, prospect, and secure new business accounts across Calgary and Alberta through cold calling, field visits, networking, and direct sales outreach.
• Manage, retain, and grow relationships with assigned existing accounts, serving as their primary point of contact for strategic logistics solutions.
• Conduct consultative sales discovery meetings—both virtually and through on-site field appointments—to evaluate supply chain requirements and deliver tailored solution packages.
• Partner closely with internal pricing, operations, and support teams across Canada and international offices to build competitive commercial proposals and bids.
• Promote complete end-to-end 3PL services including international ocean freight, air freight forwarding, contract logistics, and warehousing capabilities.
• Target high-potential business accounts in core regional industries such as retail, FMCG, technology, agricultural machinery, and industrial supply lines.
• Onboard newly closed customer accounts seamlessly before transitioning day-to-day operational execution to regional service teams while retaining strategic account oversight.
• Maintain a structured sales pipeline, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and report consistently on territory revenue targets and growth milestones.
• Participate in local industry associations, supply chain networking events, and trade shows to elevate corporate brand presence throughout Western Canada.
• Conduct all commercial negotiations, client entertainment, and sales activities in full alignment with corporate compliance policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications
• Minimum 3 to 5+ years of successful B2B outside sales, business development, or account management experience in logistics or freight forwarding.
• Experience working within a mid-sized or global third-party logistics (3PL) provider or freight forwarder.
• Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales quotas, pipeline growth targets, and revenue goals.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for regular client meetings throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.
• Must reside in the greater Calgary area with permanent legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously without direct local supervision while maintaining strong communication with national leadership.
