Position DescriptionMount Carmel Bible College is accepting applications for ministry interns starting in September . Successful candidates will be involved with Mount Carmel throughout the - school year, developing ministry skills while serving the students and staff of Mount Carmel.
The number of positions available will be dependent on student enrollment numbers.Role : The primary role of this position is to act as a godly presence among the students of Mount Carmel.
The interns will involve themselves in student life, earning the right to disciple and mentor the students while helping to set a God-honoring tone amongst the students.
This includes supporting other staff in shaping the community life at Carmel, assisting in the day to day operations of the program, and finding creative ways to connect with and walk alongside students outside of program hours.
Other tasks for this position may include the following : Leading youth nights or promotional eventsPlanning and participating in alumni eventsLeading a small group and / or group discussionsCoordinating guest speakersSpeaking at chapelsRepresenting Mount Carmel at conferences or promotional eventsMiscellaneous administrative tasksParticipation in service trips and retreats In addition to supporting the ministry of Mount Carmel, this role is meant to provide the opportunity for interns to continue to grow in their own spiritual life and to practice and develop their ministry skills.
To this end, interns will receive ongoing coaching and mentoring from experienced staff, participate in spiritual retreat days, and receive occasional reflection or reading assignments.
A more complete description of the role will be developed in consultation with the candidates. This role is for one school year only.
Qualifications : The successful candidate will show evidence of : A vibrant Christian faith shown through personal growth and change, a lifestyle of service, and active church involvement.
A desire to shape the faith of others shown through on-going efforts to encourage and strengthen the faith of those with whom they have contact.
A willingness to learn and grow in ministry skill.An ability to serve and love others unconditionally.A willingness to be flexible, to work well as part of a team, and to connect well with a wide variety of people.
Preference will be given to candidates who are : Graduates of Mount Carmel (from at least three years previous).Between 22-30 years of age.
Involved in studies or a job which allows for flexibility of hours.Experienced in working with youth and / or young adults.
Abilities & GiftsWhile this ministry can be shaped around a person with a variety of gifts, strength in the areas of mentoring, encouragement and service would be essential for the persons serving at Mount Carmel.
This person does not need to be an extrovert, but does need to enjoy being with people in a social atmosphere, and must be able to connect well to a wide variety of people.
All Mount Carmel staff must demonstrate a commitment to Mount Carmel’s Statement of Faith, and must conduct themselves in accordance with our staff handbook.
Time : 15-20 hours per week, depending on availability.Remuneration : Interns will be paid a stipend of $ to $ per month, depending on availability.
