As a Senior Business Analyst with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of business and Information Technology professionals.
This position is based in our Calgary office.
The Senior Business Analyst will improve the capability, effectiveness, and efficiency of business processes through the provision of information systems that provide automated functionality.
You will ensure information systems continue to function and add value through day-to-day maintenance, support, enhancement, troubleshooting and upgrading as required.
This role manages business expectations and help mature the business process management practice around the use of the ERP.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical and functional input to business areas to help identify and develop system enhancements opportunities
- Identify business process improvements while ensuring that alternative solutions to customization requests have been fully investigated.
- Lead business users in defining and translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Map business processes and validate business processes into a "To-Be" state.
- Define, translate and validate different business area functions and communicate risks and impacts across the business areas and functions.
- Work with the business to identify solutions that will meet the business needs; ability to translate business side and IT while remaining somewhat impartial.
- Partnering with the business to ensure business needs are met while maintaining requirements / integrity of business systems.
- Educating the business users on the functionality business systems to assure the business is optimizing their use of the systems.
- Lead the system upgrades by leading and coordinating the external providers, internal IT resources and impacted business areas in addition to developing and leading testing by the business.
- Provide a single point of contact for the business and work closely with a technical resource(s) around technical investigation to identify root causes, creating plans and mitigation for user processes.
- Lead issue resolution with appropriate levels of urgency with customers, help desk personnel and developers using solid negotiation and conflict management skills, escalating to management and senior leadership appropriately.
- Lead and maintain current and timely communications across the business on matters of mutual interest and importance and ensure documentation is properly initiated, authorized and maintained.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- University degree in the field of Business Administration, Commerce, Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems.
- 10+ years’ work experience.
- Knowledge and experience with operational support of application systems using development and maintenance best practices.
- Business analysis experience understanding the business domain, drawing out requirements, communicating, managing expectations and documentation.
- Business process analysis, systems analysis, project management, change management,
- Problem identification.
- Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering and complex analysis.
- Strong knowledge of product and service evaluation principles and practices, experience.
- Proven project planning / support experience.
- Communications and Change Management experience.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to quickly understand the organization’s goals and objectives and align plans and actions to them.
- Superior interpersonal consultative and communication skills.
- Excellent technical and process documentation skills.
- Ability to bridge the gap in communication of concepts between technical and non-technical stakeholders and team members.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
