This Volunteer Placement is available in the following countries : Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St.

Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname

Start Date : October-November 2024

Placement Length : 6 months with the possibility of extension

Language Requirements : English Level 5-Fluent

Eligibility : Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada only

The Volunteer’s Role

As a volunteer, you'll have the exciting role of supporting our partner with a variety of marketing and communications tasks.

You'll take charge of managing social media platforms, keeping the website up-to-date, handling public relations, nurturing relationships with our generous donors, and creating compelling content.

On top of that, you'll play a key part in developing brand guidelines and materials. We'll rely on your keen eye to identify areas of strength, uncover opportunities for improvement, and bridge any gaps in our communication and marketing processes to maximize the impact of our partner's efforts.

As a volunteer, you will :

  • Maintain an engaged social media presence, which includes creating content for posts
  • Design, develop, and publish content on the organization's website and newsletter
  • Assist in training staff on innovative communication strategies and techniques
  • Assist the team with general public relations activities, including creating impactful stories for various communication channels
  • Support strategic donor engagement
  • Contribute to the implementation of the communications plan

Essential Requirements :

University degree in communications, marketing, social / political sciences, international development, human rights, gender studies, social work, or a related field.

Essential Background :

  • Minimum of 3 years of communications and marketing experience - it would be advantageous if you have previous experience in a role connected to promoting gender equality, diversity and / or advancing women's development.
  • Experience in providing training and facilitating sessions
  • Experience with government agencies and working with senior management is favoured
