Position Job Title : Residence Life Coordinator

Reports To : Student Experience Manager
Under the direction of Student Experience Manager, the Residence Life Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting UNF students living in UNF Managed Housing.
The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the residence life program and fosters a sense of community and support for students in their building(s) of responsibility.
This position actively contributes to the enrichment of the student experience at UNF by shaping individual and community development, implementation of programs to support student learning, and ensuring living in our UNF Managed Residences are a positive experience.
The Residence Life Coordinator lives on-site in a designated University apartment and is on-call for residence emergencies.
Specific Responsibilities :
Community Development & Student Learning
- Oversee the delivery of residence programs, activities, and services.
- Implement EDI best practices in community development to ensure students feel safe and welcome.
- Facilitate activities, community meetings, and be present regularly in the community (i.e. host office hours, outreach) to build relationships with students and remain attentive to community needs.
- Oversee the Residence Council.
Student Conduct, Success & Emergency Response
- Follow up on or investigate violations of the Residence Standards. This includes low to high level incidents that may include severe mental health or sexual violence.
- Meet with students to support and triage crises and refer to appropriate certified professionals.
- Meet with students to investigate and review behaviour, assess level of responsibility, and develop outcomes, using developmental and / or restorative approaches as appropriate.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of student contact, agreements, outcomes, and plans.
- Respond to crisis situations as a first responder to assess situations and initiate appropriate procedures and protocols.
- Consult with the Manager for any high-risk situations or where additional guidance and support is needed.
- Provide after-hours response support to students to promote community building, health, environmental, community, and student safety.
Occupancy Management
- Oversees all aspects of the residence admissions process and procedures including but not limited to advertisement, application, and room assignment.
- Coordinate all room assignments and changes in the residences.
- Coordinate move-in and move-out procedures.
- Coordinate all correspondence regarding residence admissions, fees, availability, and general questions regarding residence to ensure that students and stakeholders receive accurate, up-to-date information.
Administration & Other
- Collaborate closely with Student Experience colleagues to provide integrated student services, supports, and resources to UNF students.
- Conduct research on best practices, actively participate in professional associations and organizations, and engage with institutional and GUS Canada partners to stay informed and connected in the field.
- Take the lead on special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Student Experience Manager or other members of the UNF Leadership Team.
- Work collaborative within a team to conceptualize and create space for new and innovative programming at UNF. Partner with campus colleagues to bring these visions to fruition.
- Be available for some evening and weekend work, such as during student orientation and residence move-in.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of UNF.

Education and Experience :
- Minimum three (2) years’ experience in a residence life position, preferably at the post-secondary level, including :
- Experience in areas related to student support and promoting student success.
- Experience supporting international communities and communicating effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Experience responding to student health & safety crises and emergencies.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field
- Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check will be required as a condition of employment.
- Experience in conducting physical quality assurance inspections and coordinating inspections of facilities to audit and report on facility conditions is an asset.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification is required . Candidates without current certification must obtain it within the first week of employment.
Additional Information :
The RLC position is live-in . This apartment includes high speed internet access to a computer, and all utilities including in-suite laundry.
The total compensation package for this position is inclusive of a competitive base salary, on-campus housing provided as a non-taxable benefit, a daily flat rate on-call stipend and additional hourly and premium over-time pay for on-call hours worked.
