Our client is a leading food manufacturing company seeking for a Capital Project Manager to join their growing team.
This position requires building strong working relationships across the organization, as well as outside vendors, to effectively solve technical problems and continually improve product quality, yield, cycle times and costs.
The Project Manager ensures the implementation of Lean Manufacturing best practices within an established Food Manufacturing Environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage manufacturing projects and delegate responsibilities adequately. Take responsibilities of all tasks.
- Determine and deploy process optimization programs that yield improvements in quality, cost, or productivity. Track results based on objectives.
- Implement relevant key performance indicators. Define targets and execute necessary action plans and projects towards higher operational efficiency.
- Develop and execute strategies that support new product development and new technology integration in production.
- Manage projects surrounding new production line development, fitting equipment (new, improvement, or rebuild) into new or existing production lines, and manage the incorporation of software into the existing manufacturing process.
- Take ownership of equipment procurement processes, researching, sourcing, and recommending purchases that support production requirements and business objectives.
- Research and suggest new technologies for manufacturing engineering, supporting future product launches and growth strategies.
Evaluate and develop next-generation production concepts.
- Ensure performance of the automated production environment, as it pertains to both software and hardware, by implementing the best preventative maintenance methodologies and optimizing existing processes.
- Maintain a presence on the shop floor, overseeing current projects, communicating with Team Leaders, and defining clear scheduling and objectives for projects.
- Ability to actualize projects, from inception through to completion, on time and on budget.
- Work with internal and external resources
- Develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with key suppliers, always in the objective of improving quality, costs or productivity.
Share expertise and work with suppliers to resolve issues.
- Always keep up to date a rolling 12 month projects planning and budget.
- Use of Gantt charts to communicate progression with stakeholders.
- Capacity to understand old and new technologies
- Support the Team with troubleshooting, plant trials and Continuous Improvements Initiatives
- Maintain facility drawings
- Take over or source projects for other departments and bring projects to fruition
QUALIFICATIONS :
- 5-10 years + relevant work experience with capital projects
- Engineering degree with Professional Engineer certification is an asset (or equivalent professional experience)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation is an asset.
- A strong mind for problem solving
- Demonstrated expertise in machining processes, lean manufacturing principles, and ERP systems, and Project Management
- Experience with Automation software
- CAD and SolidWorks proficiency
- Lean manufacturing driven mind set
- Work well with pressure under short timelines
- Can handle multiple projects concurrently
- Perform thorough cost / benefit analysis and payback schedule
- Open to work with both older and new technologies
- Enjoy working with a complex environment with different processes
- Takes great pride in exceeding expectations and respecting timelines
