EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT ENOCH CREE NATION KITASKINAW EDUCATION AUTHORITY *OPEN COMPETITION* JOB PURPOSE : Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA’s) are to assist in the education, development, and training of students as well as to assist in maintaining a smooth and efficient operation of the school in general.
OTA’s must work under the supervision of our Occupational Therapist, teacher and / or administrator and take direction from the professional(s) to whom they are assigned.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant will be responsible to : Assist students who may have special behavioural / intellectual needs.
Support the instruction of students. Keep records of student progress and performance during sessions and provide feedback to the Occupational Therapist.
Provide therapy from treatment plans, as per Occupational Therapist recommendations, for individual students and groups.
Plan and create small and large group strategies / activities within the classroom environment that support the development skills of students as per the Occupational Therapists guidelines.
Help to plan and create programs and strategies for specific students and groups as outlines by the Occupational Therapist and classroom team.
Help students in their daily performance in physical, intellectual, and socio-emotional areas. Responsible for the development of materials in relation to the student’s individual programs and strategies as determined by the Occupational Therapist.
Assist with the preparation for at home programming, modeling, and monitoring. Help plan and strategize with home Caregivers on how best to implement programs in daily life outside of school.
Assist the Occupational Therapist and classroom teaching team by developing and maintaining detailed notes regarding student progress and response to current program / strategies.
Modify material and teaching styles to account for the individual needs of students. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS : Therapist Assistant, Occupational, or Physical Therapy diploma from a recognized institution.
1-3 years of experience directly related to pediatric experience Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment recommendations, occupational therapy recommendations and speech language recommendations.
Knowledge of human anatomy, functional anatomy, physical dysfunction, and learning through play principles. Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
Police Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Intervention Check. Knowledge of Cree Language is considered an asset Be available to work Monday-Friday 8 : 00-4 : 00.
WORKING CONDITIONS : Required to work a total of 40 hours a week, at maskekosak kiskinomatowikamik, while adhering to the Kitaskinaw Education Authority’s Policy & Procedure Manual and Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
