As a Recreation Therapy Assistant, you will provide Person Centered Care with direction from the LPN, Recreation Therapist and Care Manager by performing a variety of support duties associated with the provision of Recreation Services in accordance with set guidelines and practices. Providing hands-on assistance, cueing, and leadership in a variety of therapeutic recreational activities. These may include pet therapy, computers, and horticulture. Planning and leading activities, special events and creating monthly recreational calendars in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist. The successful candidate will be organized, Put People First and be willing to succeed by incorporating the CapitalCare Values into their work. Education : Graduation from a recognized Recreation Therapy Diploma program (or equivalent) is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience : Recent experience working with residents with Dementia is strongly preferred. Experience working in a day program or a continuing care setting is preferred.
Qualifications
Personal Competencies : Beginner level of Microsoft Office application experience is required. Basic knowledge of Dementia is required and a knowledge of the impact that Dementia has on the functional ability of the client / resident. Manage sensitive information confidentially. Demonstrates awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures; and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.
