Salary : $36-$43 / hour depending on qualifications / skill set

Job Summary :

Under general supervision of the Plant Manager, The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots and services electrical and mechanical equipment, support all production and physical plant equipment in the facility.

Essential Functions :

  • Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner; Immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the Plant Manager.
  • Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation's requirements, company safety procedures and H&S requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
  • Perform emergency repairs to machines and equipment to support production.
  • Perform general maintenance of company assets.
  • Perform regular building checks as required.
  • Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes and principles of operation of electrical equipment.
  • Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service and replace electronic devices and systems.
  • Performs mechanical repairs on equipment from hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.
  • Dismantle, inspect and replace machinery parts and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts.
  • Lay-out, assemble, install, test, repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and motors using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems.
  • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
  • Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, ensuring guards and safety features are working.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as recommended by the manufacturer and or the facility’s historical data.

Education :

Licensed Electrician or Industrial Electrician or Red Seal certification.

Experience :

  • Five (5) years of electrical technical hands-on experience.
  • Technical skills including knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of A / C & D / C motor drives, installation and start-up.
  • Knowledge of ARC FLASH & LOTO procedures.
  • Familiarity and experience performing standard wiring per Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Ability to occasionally work on weekends, overtime and share an on-call schedule.
  • Ability to troubleshoot control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Install and maintain electrical / mechanical systems.
  • Read blueprints and schematics.
  • Use appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks.
  • Working with the MS Office suite of products. This includes emphasis on MS Outlook, Teams and Word.
