Accounting Manager
SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of a variety of accounting functions.
along with developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
This role will manage multiple accounting roles, while providing accounting support to TNG clients, internal staff and appraisers.
The position will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures, and ensure appropriate accounting control are maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Achieves accounting objectives by developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Supervise accounting staff and responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor revenue and expenses, collections, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data. Preparing special reports as requested by the executive team.
- Maintains accounting controls and defining accounting policies and procedures. Ensuring all staff fully understands policies and procedures and are held accountable.
- Verifying the accuracy of invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records through internal audits and providing timely reports to Director of Finance.
- Manage the Reconciliations of multiple business line accounts. Assist in the reconciliation of financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Assist with bank reconciliations month end journal entries and balance sheet accounts. Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations, month end and year end reporting
- Assist with the planning and management of government remittances to meet required deadlines in different financial jurisdiction.
- Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Assist with deployment of accounting related projects and ad hoc reporting
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all organizational policies including but not limited to, data, security and health & safety polices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Direct reports will include Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team, along with miscellaneous accounting staff (clerks, temps, co-op etc.
subject to chance according to department and business needs. Responsibilities will include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing any issues or concerns brought by staff according to department and company policy.
QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field such as : Business Administration / Management, or Statistical / Business Analysis;
or equivalent combination of education and experience in Management.
- University Degree in Accounting and Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA)
- 6-10 years direct accounting experience which includes experience in accounting best practices, analytical review, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Minimum 3 years experience managing or leading an accounting team across business lines.
- Strong expertise in ERP systems (SAGE / ACCPC experience preferred)
- Knowledge of Canada and US GAAP, financial statements, internal controls
