Accounting Specialist

ABOUT THE CLIENT

ABOUT THE ROLE;
They are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to join their Toronto team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess a strong work ethic, and demonstrate a desire to work in accounting.
Key attributes include a client service focus, strong multitasking abilities, analytical and organizational skills, proficiency with technology, and excellent communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepare monthly draft bills (prebill / proforma) for internal review by professionals.
- Track and ensure the return of draft bills for invoice processing and finalization.
- Issue invoices to clients and address any related inquiries.
- Process invoice payments, including charging clients' credit cards and posting cheque and electronic payments.
- Handle accounts payable, posting client disbursements such as Civil Litigation Filing Levy.
- Manage trust accounting, including the deposit and disbursement of funds in compliance with Law Society rules.
- Implement accounting policies and procedures, and communicate accounting information to staff at all levels.
- Respond to inquiries regarding accounting processes.
- Perform other related duties as required and assist with ad hoc projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years of accounting experience in a legal / law firm setting
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a client service mindset.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new responsibilities as necessary.
- Knowledge of law firm billing processes and familiarity with legal billing software (e.g., Elite or 3E) is advantageous.
- Experience in a law firm and with trust accounting is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION :
- $55,000-$65,000
