Summer Students, Engineering – PetroChina Canada

PCC has invested billions of dollars in an asset‑rich portfolio of upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. In Alberta, this includes our MacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint‑venture interests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.
PCC has opportunities for engineering students to join one of our teams and support our assets in the areas of Production, Reservoir, or Facilities engineering. The positions will be based in our Calgary Head Office. All positions are a 4‑month term starting in May 2026.
Accountabilities (May Include, But Are Not Limited To)
Assist the team in daily activities, participate in technical discussions, and provide technical opinions and feedback when appropriate
Support the team’s technical, reporting and presentation requestsData and Performance AnalysisGather, organize and analyze operational data to build a master database
Learn about and assist with equipment performance monitoring and process optimizationContribute to process simulation modelling and performance predictionTechnical ExposureResearch and review new technologies, trends, best practices and equipment
Support efforts to enhance economic production, recovery and efficiencyProject SupportAssist with updating ground deformation and well logs, managing observation wells, and reviewing 2025 studies
Support project initiatives through technical documentation, data analysis, EPC coordination and design reviewHelp track project performance and controls, including cost tracking, schedule updates, KPI monitoring and risk management activitiesQualifications
Completion of second-year studies in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or a related engineering field at an accredited post-secondary institutionWorking knowledge of core engineering principles and conceptsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams and Adobe AcrobatExperience with PowerBI, Cygnet, Wellview, Harmony, CMGL STARS, GeoScout, Spotfire, SAP or other programming languages is an assetPrevious work experience in the Oil & Gas industry is considered an assetDemonstrates initiative, a strong willingness to learn, and has a positive attitudeConfident, detail-oriented and enthusiastic team player with strong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent organizational, analytical and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and unpredictable activitiesFlexible and adaptable, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary teamLegally able to work in CanadaAdoption and demonstration of PCC Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)Additional Information
