Job Description :

The Allied Health Department is seeking a part-time clinician for the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs. Reporting to the Chair, Allied Health, the Dental Technologist ensures a safe learning environment is maintained for both students and clients of Algonquin College’s Dental clinics.

The clinician, a registered dental hygienist, provides technical expertise and reinforces instruction to students during lab, preclinical, and clinical experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Supervising and coaching of students in a clinical setting;
• Assessing students through skills evaluations, providing verbal & written feedback;
• Demonstrating procedures and skills;
• Preparing for, attending, and contributing to calibration sessions and program meetings;

Other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications :

• Diploma / degree in Dental Hygiene, or equivalent. Certificate in Dental Assisting an asset;
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario;
• Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (HARP) Certified;
• Holds a current certificate in CPR-C / HCP and First Aid;
• Proof of completion of the Public Health of Ontario IPAC Core Competencies and Reprocessing modules;
• Training in adult educational theory and methodology preferred;
• Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical experience in a dental environment;
• Proficient in electronic medical records, preferably with ClearDent / Sapphire, and digital radiographs;
• Effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;

Maintains a high level of professionalism within the college and in the Dental Community.

Additional Information :

Clinics are scheduled from Monday to Saturday.

• Must have availability for evening and Saturday shifts.
