Job Description :
The Allied Health Department is seeking a part-time clinician for the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs. Reporting to the Chair, Allied Health, the Dental Technologist ensures a safe learning environment is maintained for both students and clients of Algonquin College’s Dental clinics.
The clinician, a registered dental hygienist, provides technical expertise and reinforces instruction to students during lab, preclinical, and clinical experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supervising and coaching of students in a clinical setting;
- Assessing students through skills evaluations, providing verbal & written feedback;
- Demonstrating procedures and skills;
- Preparing for, attending, and contributing to calibration sessions and program meetings;
Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications :
- Diploma / degree in Dental Hygiene, or equivalent. Certificate in Dental Assisting an asset;
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario;
- Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (HARP) Certified;
- Holds a current certificate in CPR-C / HCP and First Aid;
- Proof of completion of the Public Health of Ontario IPAC Core Competencies and Reprocessing modules;
- Training in adult educational theory and methodology preferred;
- Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical experience in a dental environment;
- Proficient in electronic medical records, preferably with ClearDent / Sapphire, and digital radiographs;
- Effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;

Additional Information :
Clinics are scheduled from Monday to Saturday.
- Must have availability for evening and Saturday shifts.
