Job Summary :
The Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering ( GHSCSE ) of Fairleigh Dickinson University ( FDU ) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science (CS) at the rank of Assistant Professor at the FDU Vancouver Campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The FDU Vancouver Campus currently offers the B.S. in Information Technology ( BSIT ), Bachelor of Business Administration, B.
A. in Individualized Studies, M.S. in Applied Computer Science ( MSACS ), Master of Administrative Science, and Master of Hospitality and Tourism Management programs.
The MSACS program builds upon the internationally recognized M.S. in Computer Science ( MSCS ) program of GHSCSE , with more than 40 years of academic excellence, offered at the FDU Metropolitan Campus in New Jersey, U.
S.A. FDU is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the U.S. National Security Agency and the U.
S. Department of Homeland Security.
- The successful candidate is expected to teach CS, IT, and Cybersecurity courses at all levels, including but not limited to graduate courses such as Software Engineering, Operating Systems, Computer Algorithms, and Systems Programming;
- have an active research program resulting in peer-reviewed publications; provide academic advising; participate actively in student recruitment and retention efforts, learning outcomes assessment, and curriculum and laboratory development;
- supervise capstone projects, internships, and student organizations; accompany students on field trips and to conferences;
- and seek outside funding. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in supervising the adjunct faculty;
coordinating, promoting, and reviewing the BSIT and MSACS programs; and in implementing GHSCSE’s initiatives. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to be present on campus at least four of the five working days every week, and to attend open houses and outreach programs, which are conducted on a few weekends.
Required Qualifications :
1. PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field.
2. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and contributions to student welfare.
3. Demonstrated ability to foster student learning in CS, IT, and Cybersecurity regardless of level.
4. Superior oral and written communications skills and ability to work collaboratively.
5. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
