Junior Environmental Scientist / Junior Environmental Technologist

WeAreWSP

A day in the life :

  • Assist in executing site-specific field data collection ( i.e. groundwater monitoring, K-test data collection and analysis, soil sampling through test pit excavations or borehole drilling, subcontractor supervision, drilling investigations, and hazardous materials assessments etc.)
  • Assist with on-site assessment and remediation activities;
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, contractors and clients;
  • Complete assignments within the constraints of the project work plans and budgets;
  • Prepare accurate and detailed field notes;
  • Assist in tabulation of data including the preparation of borehole / test pit logs;
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports.
  • Other duties as assigned / required.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes :

  • Completed a Diploma / Certificate from a Technical College or University degree in environmental science or related discipline;
  • Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude
  • Excellent written, technical reporting and communication skills;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry;
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work with little supervision;
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a team environment;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Enjoy the outdoors, as fieldwork will likely comprise approximately 90% of the work week during peak time of year (i.e.
  • spring, summer, fall);
  • The desire to succeed in a dynamic and progressive global organization.
